WHAT TO EXPECT?
What time should I arrive?
The service starts at 10.30am, so if you arrive around 10.15am that would give you time to have a tea or coffee and time for someone in the welcome team to say hello to you.
What should I wear?
There is no dress code or "Sunday best". Just come as you are and wear whatever you feel most comfortable in (except perhaps pyjamas).
What will happen?
One of the leaders of Northwest will get things going and then a band will lead worship for about 30-40 mins. Words for songs are projected onto a screen and you can stand up and sit down when you like (although we'd hope the songs would make you want to stand up and move!). After worshipping God, there are a few adverts and news items for things that are going on in the life of the church and then one of the leaders of the church would preach a sermon from the bible for 30 mins. The aim of the sermon is to understand God more and experience him more in our lives. After the sermon we would often have time to respond to God and be prayed for.
When will the service finish?
12.15pm usually
Can I leave half way through if I feel uncomfortable?
We have a quick coffee break in the middle of the service so you could leave then - or if you really felt uncomfortable you can leave at any time!
Will I be the "odd one out"?
No. There are people in Northwest Church from every type of background, walks of life and from loads of different countries. There are people of every sort of colour in the church. We make a big effort to welcome and be gracious and kind to everyone... because that the kind of love that God has shown us.
Can I bring my children?
Yes. children are a big part of the church and they are very welcome. Children stay with the adults for the fIrst half an hour of the worship and then go out to their specific groups. We have groups for all ages of children. There is a creche for very young children - or they can stay with you if you and they prefer. We're not too worried by the sounds of children - its a sign of life!
Can I still come if I'm not a Christian - or even not a very nice person?
Yes. The church is made up of people who know they are sinners, "bad people" and failures. There are addicts, ex-criminals and the violent amongst those who would say northwest Church is their spiritual home.
Will I be expected to do anything or give any money?
You won't be bored, embarrassed or asked for money (we do take an offering - but its for commited members of the church, not visitors). However you will be warmly welcomed, encouraged in your walk with God - and we hope want to come again!
If you have any other questions about Northwest or what to expect when you visit email Zoe in the church office. Hope to see you soon.
